Dayak Protesters Reject Senior FPI Officials Booted Out of Central Borneo

Thousands of Dayak tribal people here Saturday gathered in a rally at Palangka Raya’s Besar Roundabout to reject an FPI (Islam Defenders’ Front) presence in the city. A similar demonstration also took place at Cilik Riwut airport against the arrival of FPI founder Habib Rizieq to lead a tablig akbar (mass prayer service) in Palangka Raya.

dayak kalteng reject FPIThe Dayak Customary Council meanwhile had sent a letter to the Central Kalimantan police headquarters requesting the latter to ban the opening of an FPI branch in the province. “We are afraid an FPI presence will disturb the local community’s peace because this organization often engages in activity that creates unrest in the community whereas inter-faith relations in Central kalimantan have always been harmonious,” a Council spokesman said.

Police Continue to Investigate Massacre Orangutan East Borneo

Railway for Coal Project at Central Borneo

Sabah is the fastest growing state in Malaysia

Sabah MCA women Chief Datuk Agnes Shim hailed the 2012 State Budget of over RM4 billion saying that it was made possible due to Kota Kinabalu Viewstrong revenue from the state coffers this year. “This government is spending big for the benefit of the people and is consistent with its commitment to the Economic Transformation Programme to turn Sabah into a high income and advanced state by 2020,” she said yesterday.

Agnes, who is also the Federation of Chinese Associations Malaysia (Hua Zong) chairwoman said the budget is supported by an expected revenue of RM3.6 billion which is a conservative estimate as global commodity prices for palm oil and petroleum continue to remain strong. Read more…
