Pulau Tiga (Survivor Island) is a paradise island surrounded by pristine tropical waters is located 6 miles offshore from Sabah, Malaysian Borneo. The island was formed on September 21st 1897 when an earthquake on the Philippine island of Mindanao triggered a volcanic eruption at this spot just off Borneo. The eruption of mud and rock formed a new island 20m wide.Over the next four decades subsequent eruptions developed two more islands, which have now joined together and three islands have become one.
Hence Pulau Tiga, or Three Island. Today, the pristine natural environment of Pulau Tiga Park is protected by the Malaysian government. The last eruption of the volcano was in 1941, but to this day warm mud continues to bubble from geometric vents on the island. These mud baths are safe to bath in and can be accessed via a 1.2km trail through the tropical rainforest.Although not proved by science, the volcanic mud is claimed to improve the complexion, relieve joint and muscle pain and remove toxins.
Wow, glad I am to go Barito Kuala. Wishes to witnessed Barito River pending in banjarmasin could eventually also be channeled in Barito Kuala although sadly also can not pose with the famous bridge and the river is. In fact, it is said many tourists and residents who took time to stop at one of the longest bridge in Borneo is to take pictures and perpetuate themselves in this bridge. But what the doubt, because I travel up the public, then I might not requesting the driver to fulfill my desire to pose with this beautiful bridge.
Located in Barito Kuala, in the path of Muara Anjir approximately 15 KM away from Banjarmasin, Barito is where the bridge is located. The road to the bridge is also quite unique because I have to pass through semi-highway road on the left side where there is a small river wide enough and can be passed by djoekoengs. It appears some of the boats sailing on the river while on my right side is the village which contains houses, government offices, to industrial wood and fiber ikutannya fields. Not long after, the road we traveled peophonan hedge parted and started getting a bit rare and suddenly in the distance appeared a large yellow building on. Once approached, the words “Barito Bridge” with a magnificent plastered on it.
